We want to make it as easy as possible for people to find out more about the claims of Jesus. For that reason, we put on a range of courses and events that we hope will be useful to you as you look for answers to your questions. We really do believe that it’s the best news in the world, as summed up by one of the Bible’s most famous verses (inscribed on the edge of the gallery at St John’s!):

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Sunday Services

Whoever you are - whether you’re following Jesus already or just wanting to find out more - you will be very welcome at either of our Sunday services, and you won’t be put under pressure to sing, pray or say anything you don’t believe. There is always an opportunity to hear a talk from the Bible, which is the best place to come face to face with the Person of Jesus and to hear the claims of Christianity. We meet twice on Sundays, at 10.30am and 6pm.

What Christians Believe

Although we try to make our Sunday services as accessible as possible, you may still have lots of questions which you don’t feel are answered or you don’t feel you can ask. As its name suggests, What Christians Believe provides an opportunity for people to explore the heart of the Christian faith. It is a short course run over four Wednesday evenings, which looks at some key questions and the Bible’s answers to them. Although there is plenty of opportunity to ask questions and discuss, there is no obligation to read aloud or pray. Everyone is welcome, from people who are completely new to the Christian faith to those who would welcome a refresher course.

The topics are:

Week 1: What is God like?
Week 2: Who is Jesus?
Week 3: What’s gone wrong with the world?
Week 4: How can I know God?

The sessions start at 8pm (7.45pm for coffee and cake). There is a short talk, followed by a chance to discuss what has been said. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, and sessions will finish by 9.30pm. The next course will start in the autumn and runs for four weeks. Special Events

We put on a range of events throughout the year, from dinners and barbecues to special services, where we try to explain the good news about Jesus in an especially clear and concise way.
